Movies at Midnight

April 12, 2012 I met David for the first time and we went out on our first date.  We went to dinner at Lupe Tortilla (still a favorite restaurant of ours) followed by a movie.  I let David pick the movie and he chose The Hunger Games which had recently been released in theaters.  I hadn’t yet read the books, but with my impatience to find out what happened next at the end of the movie, I quickly started reading the series soon after that first date.

I have been waiting for the second Hunger Games movie to come out for what feels like a very long time.  We rarely go to the movies these days because we both think ticket prices have become outrageous (we’d rather just Red Box a movie for $1.29), but had been saving our next movie date for when Catching Fire was released.   This weekend was a busy one for us with David preparing for his final tests at work and me photographing weddings.  Life is pretty hectic these days, and with the holidays right around the corner (can you believe Thanksgiving is this week already?!?) both David and I were pretty short on time to go to the movies.  I was photographing a wedding Saturday night, but David was sweet enough to wait until I got home (11pm) and go to a midnight showing even in the cold (40 degrees is COLD to Texans) weather.

It’s crazy to believe that it’s been just over a year and a half since our first date to see The Hunger Games, and this weekend as we went to see Hunger Games 2 we went not as a guy and a girl on their first date, but as a couple.  An engaged couple, and planning a wedding, and excited to start our marriage.

Even though we didn’t get home until after 3AM and our sleep deprived selves probably paid for it the next day, I’m so happy I have someone that will still act like a teenager with me and go to midnight showings of The Hunger Games.  Yep, he’s a keeper.  🙂

  1. So your first date ever with David you saw the Hunger Games movie. Then, you haven’t gone to the movies since and for your second movie date your engaged and see the sequel. You know now you cannot go back to the movies until after your married because going to the movies must only come after a major life event.
