If I’m being completely honest, this was the part I had been dreading the most. I have never been a super skinny girl, so trying on dresses to find one that I would wear for my wedding and look back on pictures for the rest of my life did not sound like a fun time to me.
About three weeks ago or so, I actually tried on a few at a bridal boutique on a whim. I had set up an appointment with my florist and had arrived early, so to kill some time I stepped into the bridal boutique a few doors down just to browse. I ended up finding a dress that I loved. The owner of the store was so sweet and let me try it on even though I didn’t have an appointment. I loved the dress, but decided I would come back at a later time with a few of my friends as well to get their opinion of the dress.
Fast forward three weeks and I decided to make an appointment at Brickhouse Bridal in The Woodlands, so I could say that I at least went to two different stores in case I ended up going back to boutique number 1 for the first dress. Lucky for me, Brickhouse had the same dress that I had previously tried on, as well as others so I was able compare and get feedback from my Mom and Maid of Honor as well.

My consultant, Jessica, was great, and ultimately I ended up going with a dress she pulled. In total, I tried on four dresses. The first that I already liked from before, the second which I decided wasn’t a good fit or style for me, the third which is the one I ended up choosing and a forth which was another dress similar in style as the third.
Honestly I’m a little surprised by the one I ended up choosing because it wasn’t at all what I thought I was going to get. I can’t go into too much detail without spoiling it, but I love the detailing on this dress, and it’s not something I see every weekend at weddings so it makes me feel unique.
Still up for debate: Veil or no veil. I’ve always been a fan of long veils, but now that I’m at this crossroads, I’m finding it difficult to pay $250+ for something that I’m going to wear for maybe an hour and then take off at the reception. My consultant had a few ideas, among them borrowing a friend or family members’ old veil and having that double as my “something borrowed” which I think would be a neat idea. I still have a lot of time to decide what I want to do so I’ll let that ponder for awhile.
Now that I found my wedding dress, I can’t wait to try it on again! I was told five months for my dress to come in, so hopefully by the end of April I will have it. 🙂

Thanks for sharing the story of how you picked your dress. What a fun blog to read! It’s going to be hard to wait another 11 months before I can see it. 😦 What a big tease. Ha.
