Kitchen Table Refinishing

A few months ago, I was searching the world of facebook marketplace and found this table for $40.

Our current kitchen table was getting pretty worn, starting to fall apart and I wanted something a little smaller and a lower height (it was a bar height table).  I figured for $40 this would be a great project for me to introduce myself to the world of furniture refinishing!  So we drove downtown, picked up the table and a few weeks later I started the sanding process.  I sure to love my electrical palm sander…it gets so much use these days.

After that, I stained and sealed the table and voila!  A new table that is a bit more our style.

When I went looking for new chairs for this, I couldn’t find any that completely matched.  So I bought these, took the legs off, sanded them down and re-stained them the color of the tabletop so it would match.  I’m a little OCD like that.  😉

In other news, it looks like we are going to be getting a table that used to belong to David’s dad that has more flexibility in its uses and has a bit of a sturdier pedestal base….so this one will most likely be moved up to the game room for a card table after we refinish his Dad’s table.  I still call this a win in my book for my first go at refinishing a piece of furniture!
