Caribbean Cruise 2015

Unfortunately for us, we are back from our cruise and settling in to day to day life once again.  We had such a wonderful time, it’s making it harder to get back into our work routines.  Well, maybe not for David, but for me.  Recovering from a trip, catching up on laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping as well as running a business from home and catching up on emails, client messages, editing, etc. is proving to take a little longer than I anticipated.  haha!  Luckily, I think I’m almost all caught back up.  Except for the laundry.  That’s my least favorite house chore so I always put it off the longest.  Anyway, on to our trip.

We departed Sunday, September 27th out of Galveston.  I would love to say that it was a sunny and gorgeous day, but in actuality, it was overcast and rainy.  That first night on the ship, David and I went to one of the top decks to watch a movie on the outside movie theater (Yes!  You read that right!  And outside movie by the pool…probably one of my favorite spots- haha!), we couldn’t believe how much the wind was blowing and how stormy it was.  We even went to the top deck of the ship and took video of a lightening storm in the distance.  It was pretty neat to watch, and one day when I have time to edit and convert the video to a file I can upload here I will share it.

I like to think I have a pretty tough stomach and don’t get sea sick (I never once felt anything on my last cruise), but that night when we got back to our room I was definitely feeling the boat rocking and not feeling so great.  Thankfully, after the first night and getting us out of Galveston, we didn’t run into anymore bad weather during our trip.

Here was out itinerary for the trip:

Sunday, September 27th – Depart Galveston

Monday, September 28th – Sea Day

Tuesday, September 29th – Cozumel

Wednesday, September 30th – Grand Caymans

Thursday, October 1st – Montgeo Bay, Jamaica

Friday, October 2nd – Sea Day

Saturday, October 3rd – Sea Day

Sunday, October 4th – Dock in Galveston

Sea days were spent relaxing on the deck with a good book (I read The Martian and highly recommend it.  We actually just went and saw the movie Friday and both David and I loved it) with an occasional dip in the pool during the day (I also may have indulged in a margarita or tropical adult beverage here and there as well).  Our evenings we went to dinner and usually went to at least one of the comedy shows at night.  We loved the comedy shows!  There were a few nights we saw bits and pieces of the movie they were showing on the top deck, and the last night I enjoyed the evening but cozying up on a pool lounge chair and watching an entire movie.  When I was on my last cruise with Royal Caribbean I kept thinking the only thing they were missing was an outside movie theater.  Wish granted!

Here are some random photos during our Sea Days and the evenings.  I’ll be posting separate posts with more detail for each of our excursion days.  Our photos are a mix of iPhone, GoPro and the occasional photos we bought from the cruise.  It was so nice not lugging around my “real” camera, but boy do I sure miss the quality and ease of editing the colors from my RAW files!

Below is our last day on the cruise.  Leave it to us to find the “adults only” area on our last day!  The chairs were so comfy up here although it was SUPER windy!
