I thought I would share a new food blog I discovered over the weekend. Something that I try to keep under wraps is the fact that I’m not the best cook. Well, in reality, I just don’t enjoy cooking.
Baking is a completely different story. I love baking and quite enjoy the process. In fact, now that the holidays are approaching I’m looking forward to pulling out my kitchen aid mixer and going to town with some flour, sugar and butter (among several other ingredients).
Cooking has never been that way for me. I don’t know why, but I always got extremely frustrated growing up learning to cook. And now that I’m an adult, my frustration comes not from cooking (because on the occasion that I actually do cook, everything turns out edible and tasty), but having to figure out which aisle in the 25+ aisles at the grocery store is home to the one or two random ingredients a recipe calls for. It never fails that whatever recipe I find online, it always requires some random, weird ingredient that I have no idea where to find in the store. I would get so frustrated I would just give up. In fact, several times I considered doing what grocery shopping I could online and just having it delivered. That sounds so much easier than aimlessly walking the aisles trying to figure out what it is I need.
These days I tend to google photos of what I’m looking for before I go to the store along with the question, “Where do I find X ingredient at the grocery store.” That’s been a big help. And boy do I sound like an idiot right now, but hey, I like to keep things real. 🙂
Anyway, I was pursuing Pinterest on Sunday and came across a recipe that I thought looked tasty. Upon looking at the blog even more, I realized that most of the recipes (except for the slow cookers recipes) only take about 30 minutes of cook time and maybe 10-15 minutes of prep time. That’s do-able. Another major plus factor is that the writer takes PHOTOS (good, quality photos, in natural light) of all of her finished recipes and sometimes the steps throughout the process. This was a huge bonus for me as my eyes like to do the tasting and decide if I want to try something or not.
So, if you’re looking for a new food blog peruse, check out the Damn Delicous Blog.
I already tried the Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce last night and it was delicious.
