I’ve been trying to decide how I’m going to recap our wedding day. Should I just write one really long recap and leave out the little details so it doesn’t get too long and boring to read? Should I break it up into parts (Pre-ceremony, Ceremony, Reception, etc)? So many decisions and so much to remember and write about. I think I’m going to break the day up into different posts so I don’t get too overwhelmed trying to recap everything and then leave certain things out on accident. I’ll start with the morning of our wedding:
Surprisingly, I slept really well Wednesday night. I think I was just so tired from all the excitement of REHEARSAL DINNER and all the preparing that took place the day before that by the time I finally got in bed and laid down, I was pretty tired. David and I texted back and forth a few times that night until I finally decided to go to sleep around midnight. I had set my alarm for 7:00am, and woke up on my own promptly at 6:55am. Funny how our body internally knows when we need to get up before the alarm even goes off.
It was very low-key that morning at my moms. I took a shower, we had a small breakfast and we loaded up my mom’s car with my dress, shoes, jewelry, suitcase, etc. After picking up a subway sandwich tray for the girls on our way, we arrived at the venue around 10:15am. Hair and makeup was scheduled to start at 11:00am, and I wanted to get there around 10:30am to get everything unloaded and walk around the venue a bit before things started happening. I received a phone call around 10:30am, telling me that my hair and makeup artists had been in a car wreck that morning (thankfully everyone was okay), and were waiting on a tow truck to get their car as well as alternate transportation to finish getting to my venue. Not a huge deal because I know the girls at Sunkissed and Made Up work extremely fast and would have no problem finishing us up in time, and if we had to, we could always finish photos after the ceremony (we had planned to do a first look). After a few more phone calls and transportation figured out, I was told they would be at my venue a little after noon.
So, while I wasn’t worried about being ready on time, this left about an hour for me to just chill with my mom and bridesmaids. My bridesmaid, Sarah, picked up some orange juice and champagne that morning and we all had mimosas. Mom gave a very touching speech that day to me and my girlfriends thanking them for being such good friends to me (yes, it made me cry), and we enjoyed just relaxing for a bit before all the busy-ness of the day started.
During this time, my friend also showed up to help set up our tables and chairs for the day. (Thanks, Niki!). Surprisingly (to me, at least), I didn’t take a single photo that day on my phone. When I had time (after we first arrived) there was nothing to take photos of, and when there was something to take photos of, I was busy. The only photos I have so far are from friends and family who have sent pictures my way. At least, that’s all I have until I get our professional photos back. Here’s one Sarah took of me walking outside to do a last run through outside of where and how I wanted our chairs set up for guests.

Oh, and did I mention how lucky we were with the weather? It was an absolutely gorgeous day! We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our wedding day. This entire past year I told myself that as long as it didn’t rain I couldn’t complain about the weather. We picked October hoping the weather would be nice, but in Texas you really never know. We lucked out. I can’t emphasize enough how gorgeous the day was. I think the high that day was 79 and the low 55. No humidity at all. It. Was. Phenomenal.
My hair and makeup girls did arrive around 12:15pm and we got to work right away getting ourselves all beautified. More to follow. 🙂
