I’m not sure why, but I love initials on doors. I think it makes a great statement when guests walk up to your venue and the first thing they see are the bride and grooms initials on the doors. Silly? Probably, but that’s just me. I love the letters made out of flowers, but I knew that would be over our budget (in my opinion there’s more important things to spend money on then flowers that will die in a week), so I settled on moss letters. I checked with my florist (who I love) and they were still going to be a bit more than what I wanted to pay. So I decided to look into DIY-ing them. I found THIS tutorial and pretty much followed it completely. I’m sure these letters aren’t as big as what I would have gotten through my florist, but they were a fraction of the cost. I bought the letters when they were 50% off at Hobby Lobby for $5/each and the moss was $10. I already had hot glue so I was able to do this for around $20. That’s a 1/5 of what I would have paid doing it the other way.
The only thing I’m a little worried about is the ribbon. Because of my K I can’t loop the ribbon around like I would on the D, so I had to glue and staple the ribbon onto the back of each letter. Hopefully that holds. If not, then well….we will cross that bridge when we come to it. 😉
