Rehearsal Dinner: Dosey Doe

Yesterday we booked our rehearsal dinner venue.  It’s not a super fancy venue but it has a lot of Texas character and isn’t a chain or something you can get just anywhere which I think will be nice.

Dosey Doe is a barn that they moved from Kentucky to The Woodlands and serves as a small music venue for country artists.  Its walls are also filled with artifacts from the late 1800’s which adds to the character and history of the place.

Because we are so far out from October, we aren’t sure yet if there will be live music that night or not.  If there is then our rehearsal dinner will take place in the loft (to be private from other guests) before the concert starts and then if guests want to stay after for the music they will need to cover the $10 concert charge.  If there’s not any music that night, then we will pretty much have the entire barn to ourselves as they are only open on Music nights and for special events.

From Dosey Doe’s website:

“This 165 year old historical structure has been saved for its current purpose.  Originally built as a tobacco barn in Kentucky the 300-600 year old growth oak & birch massive beams are the foundation not only for a beautiful room but also for the great acoustics.  It is a place where memories are made.

Nationally recognized artists from around the world now dominate the calendar here:  FromJerry Jeff Walker to the Rippingtons, Dave Mason to Lee Roy Parnell, Clint Black to Bela Fleck,  Leon Russell to Spro Gyra,  Steve Wariner to Hayes Carll,  Roger Creager to Mel Tillis, Manhattan Transfer to Gallagher…up very close and very personal.  Most artists will stay to have photos taken and give autographs after the show. Many very rarely do it anywhere but here and almost everyone says it is one of their very favorite rooms to play.

Filled with Americana Artifacts from the late 1800s to early 1900s there is plenty to see.   Your hands touching the hand-hewn 2000lb barn beams, your eyes filled with art, artifacts, signage from a simpler time, your taste buds excited from salad to desert, and music so pure- up close and personal”
