Etsy + Pinterest

I’ve always known about Etsy and Pinterest, and I have actually been an active user of both sites for awhile now, but they are even more helpful when planning a wedding!

Let’s start with Etsy.  I found a cute shop on Etsy that specializes in hand-made print items.  Specifically for me and David, this means our Save the Dates, Invitations and a few other items I plan on getting for our wedding day.  We weren’t planning on sending Save the Dates out, but after deciding to have our wedding on a Thursdaywe thought it might be a good idea to help our guests prepare in case they needed to make arrangements for travel, work, etc.

Originally I had the bright idea that I would design, print and assemble my own invitations and save the dates to help save on cost.  But with the elaborate idea I had for these DIY invitations, I decided that 1. It would be too involved and I would probably lose my patience around the 10th invitation and 2. time.  While I can probably make it work and get all the invitations together in time, I knew I wouldn’t have the time to get the Save the Dates ready before they needed to be sent.   The owner of the shop, Jessica, has been amazing to work with and customized our save the dates to fit our needs.  Not only that, but now all of our paper items will be cohesive.  Once our save the dates and invitations are received by guests, I will be sure to share a link to this (amazing) Etsy store and pictures.

Pinterest.  Up until now, I’ve been using Pinterest as a way to collect recipes and holiday ideas, as well as keep an updated bucket list of places I want to travel. But now I’m using it not only as a way to gather ideas, but also as a way to make sure our wedding day/theme/colors are all cohesive and work together well.  I tend to love every cute thing I see (and I see a lot of cute ideas photographing weddings every weekend), but just because two things are cute, doesn’t mean they work well together.  My Pinterest board is helping me keep things in check and making sure I’m on track with the ideas I have for our wedding.  Not to mention, making sure our color scheme works!  Sorry, but for now, my wedding board on pinterest is top secret.  I don’t want to give everything away, I want there to be some surprises for our guests!
